We went to Birmingham’s first Wingfest in Digbeth last weekend. The World’s Largest Chicken Wing Festival. The competition brief was to serve 2 types of wing: A Buffalo & a Wild Wing. We took our ‘Classic Buffalo’ with Blue Cheese Sauce, Celery & Chives & ‘Wingdom Come’, Our Signature Gochujang House Sauce with Chive Ranch & Pecorino Cheese.
It was an exceptionally hot weekend and the festival was well attended. I think they said there were 3000 people there on the Saturday alone. We had some lovely compliments from some of the greatest wing slingers & food bloggers in the country and The official judges came round mid afternoon- winners were to be announced at 8.30 on the main stage.
8.30 came and we cleaned up, 1st place for both categories. We were gobsmacked, twice. Then on Sunday we came 2nd in The Peoples Choice Awards for each category – more shock!
We owe a huge thanks to all the staff that worked their little asses off both at home and at the competition. Thanks to all who have supported us over our first wing competition… WE”LL BE BACK!
